Malawi Teams of 2011

College Station, TX

Posted 03/11/2011

The first Malawi team of 2011 to go and serve through Pure Mission was the Living Hope Baptist Church of College Station, TX. This team traveled to Malawi to show God's love to the widows and orphans, to share God's grace with the unsaved, and to rejoice in God's goodness with those who have already committed their lives to Him. These 11 men and women saw God move in mighty ways during their time of travel and on the field.

College Station Team

God's Protection: God is in control and He is concerned with every personal detail of our lives. The College Station team felt this first-hand when through a chance encounter in London, discovered that half of their luggage had been dropped off there, and the other half scheduled to go to Ethiopia, with none of it going to Malawi as arranged. Because of God's awesome protection, this error was discovered and corrected in time for the team to have all of their luggage sent to Malawi with them.

God's Provision: God is mighty to step in where we continually fall short if we simply allow Him to do so. The individuals on this team experienced the typical personal attacks of fear, anxiety and inadequacy when presented with the challenges of sharing the gospel to people in a foreign land. God was able to calm those fears, ease those anxieties and completely erase any thoughts of inadequacy, allowing the message to be confidently shared with strength and power.

God's Presence: God was there when this team traveled into the local villages for the very first time, seeing the poverty and the deep appreciation the Malawian people have for Americans who travel all that way to talk with them. God was there as this team shared the story of Jesus calming the storm and Zacchaeus climbing the tree with the Esther's House children. God was there on Sunday as the team held Sunday School classes, participated in worship, shared their testimonies and handed out salvation bracelets to the village children. God was there when this team traveled up the mountain to the Gossali Village to share the gospel with those people for the first time and start a brand-new church. God was there when this team visited the Three-Ways Baptist Church, a previous church plant, as they worshipped with this group of believers and presented them with a Proclaimer, a machine that will read the Bible in their native language.

The College Station team returned weary but elated to have had the privilege to do God's work in Malawi. This team was not unique in its combined gifts and talents, it was simply made up of ordinary people willing to undergo intense training and eager to respond to God's call to go and serve. Pure Mission is looking for people and churches to partner with Esther's House in Malawi. Go to www.puremission.org to find out how you can get involved in this incredible ministry!
