Give Thanks
Demonstrating Love through Giving and Serving
Posted 11/24/2010
Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. James 1:27
Esther's House is more than simply a place for orphaned children to live. It is a place where the Word of God is proclaimed and lived out on a daily basis through meeting needs, providing discipleship and demonstrating love.
Last week the Esther's House widows were gifted with large bags of fertilizer, a precious commodity that is instrumental during the planting season. Fertilizer helps gardens have a higher crop yield, which in turn helps the widows feed not only themselves but the orphans that many of them care for. It is a simple gift, yet one that has far-reaching benefits.
Many children involved in the orphan programs were at Esther's House when the widows rece
ived their gifts. The older children were encouraged to assist the elderly by carrying the sacks of fertilizer home for them, some a considerable distance away. It was a great lesson for the children, demonstrating love through service, and it was a blessing for the widows, who were thankful for God's unceasing provision.
This Thanksgiving season, remember to thank God for his unceasing provision in your life and pray for those that need our constant care. Visit the orphans and the widows in their affliction. Go to www.puremission.org to find out how you can be a blessing to those in need.
