Conference Call Recap

Introducing 90/90: 4 Life!

Posted 08/04/2010

  1. CELEBRATION - Esther's House ministries through Pure Mission has many causes for celebration! From the time the first mission teams went to Malawi until now, many strides have been made to implement God's call for us to care for the widows and orphans through various programs carried out by Esther's House ministries. Esther's House campus serves as the base of operations for our Residential orphans program, Non-residential orphans program, Widows program and Feeding Centers. Pure Mission has been able to touch the lives of many people, meeting needs both physical and spiritual.
  2. NEEDS - Even with all of the progress being made, there are still very real needs for the people in Malawi, especially in regards to healthcare. While there is healthcare currently available, it is many miles away, and most of the people in the Madzanje village area have no way of getting to the doctor to receive the medicine or treatment that they need. There are also serious issues with the standard of care in many of the existing hospitals and clinics, so that even for the fortunate people who are able to get to the doctor at some point, they are often receiving very poor and inadequate treatment once there.
  3. VISION - Pure Mission wants to build a Medical Training Center on the land adjacent to Esther's House, within walking distance of the entire village of Madzanje. This training center would be a medical clinic staffed by Malawian nationals and American volunteers. This training center would be a place to teach and to train the most promising of the Malawian locals in the basics of hygiene and medical care, so that they in turn could go back to their villages and improve the quality of life in an exponential way. This training center would also have a lodging component; a place to house the American doctors, volunteers and missionary travelers who come to Malawi to work and to serve.
  4. ADVOCATE LEADERS - Pure Mission is looking for YOU to be an Advocate Leader! We are kicking off a 90/90: 4 Life Campaign in just two short weeks. Will you be a part of the solution to healthcare needs in Malawi?
  • What is an Advocate Leader? An Advocate Leader is someone who will commit to helping the cause. That means you will be responsible for sharing this need with others in your circle in order to raise funds for this project. While being and Advocate Leader may mean that you choose to write a check to this project yourself, that is not the purpose of advocacy. We need you to go to your local church, your small group, your business or your high school. We need you to express the great needs faced by the people in Malawi and promote the necessity for a Medical Training Center.
  • What does 90/90: 4 Life mean? The goal is to use 90 Advocate Leaders to promote and raise money during the 90 days before Thanksgiving to fund the Medical Training Center project to improve the quality of life for people in Malawi.
  • How much money do I need to raise for this project? Each Advocate Leader will commit to raising $2500 for the Medical Training Center project.
  • How do I share with other groups? Information in the form of slides will be provided by the end of this week that you can use to present to various groups. Any questions that arise can be directed to info@puremission.org.
  • How can I promote to raise money for this project? While some families, groups or businesses may have the means to directly write a check to the cause, many other people and groups will require more creative measures. Consider this: if 25 families would commit to forgoing one nice meal out sometime in the next three months, it would be a snap to raise $2500. Get busy, get creative. Lead fundraisers, have garage sales, ask your friends. A lot of people may care, they just don't know about the need. It is up to you to tell them. There is no limit to the ways money can be raised!
  • Can I share my success with others? Absolutely. Let us know of your creative success stories at info@puremission.org. We would love to post those on Facebook and share those ideas with the other Advocate Leaders!
